MUNNA GOES TO JAIL

In 2006, when Munna was behind bar for ‘Gandhigiri’, he was drunk, jovial and enjoying the comradire of ‘Circuit’. He had revenged ‘Lucky Singh’ and got the beautiful Bengali queen as the reward.  But the reflections have changed a lot over the years.

In his non-cinematic and non-scripted life, Munna is a second generation actor of the modern era and the beloved son of ex-cabinet minister for Youth Affairs and Sports of the Manmohan Singh Government. He has had, his share of recognition and acclaim with major success in movie genres ranging from romance to comedy. The roles of a gangster to an upright police officer which he has also portrayed on reel seemed to have etched itself in his real life. A bitter irony if there was any. The SC of India also seems to have agreed to the melody of “Nayak nahi Khalnayak Ho main” which he portrayed on screen.

But the 53 year old Munna who has a Rocky past, is today asking for Meera Haque. In court had he got a fan in the judge he may have tried to woo him saying this

“  The Court thinks Main Awara Hoon (1983), but Hum Bhi Insaan Hain (1989), not a Khalnayak (1993). They send the Thanedar (1990), but I did not Daud (1998)  or do any    Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007)’. In  Vastav:The Reality (1999), there is a Daag (1999) on me, and I have no Mission Kashmir (2000). The Dushman (1998) conspired and put Kaante (2002) in my Sadak (1991). They only found Hathyar (1989) and Kartoos (1999) in my Ilaaka (1989), as I was Gumrah (1993) and in Kroadh (1990). I was just a Musafir (2004) and believed in Vidhata (1982). But, what can I say, Kanoon Apna Apna (1989) and is Taaqatwar (1989). There is no Mardo Wali Baat (1988) in putting me in jail again, it’s a Agneepath (2011). I am the Saajan (1991) of millions who will come for my rescue. Jeete hain Shaan Se (1987). Wish   me All the Best : Fun Begins (2009)”.

The story of Munna is epic in itself; It is difficult to imagine how a single individual can switch from one thing to another in the span of one life time – Movies, Politics, Three Marriages, Super Fight League, Drugs, Arms and finally Jail.

Isn’t it heart wrenching that nobody has time to stand up for people like Kirti Ajmera who has undergone 40 painful surgeries and received a compensation of a measly Rs 25,000 or Naresh Gidwani who was rendered blind by the blasts.

However there has been a huge hue and cry, and support coming from friends of Sanjay Dutt and the so called revered society of Bollywood and our celebrity lawyers, who feels it’s an injustice to “young boy Sanju”. The case has been an open book for ages and does not require a genius to deduce whether this has been a case of miscarriage of justice or an upholding of Indian law without fear or favour.

  • The way Bollywood and Media celebs are advocating for Sanjay Dutt it brings to mind many questions

  • Is law, a law only for the infamous and menials like us. Tomorrow if the Dabang Bhai is fixed for any of his numerous running law suites, we may as well have to deploy military to control the situation.

  • It is very heartening to note that the Judiciary is getting its strength, but how can they be audited to ensure “Justice, and Justice Alone”.

  • What will happen to the ongoing films of Munna, which are held in abeyance?

  • What will happen to the numerous small artists and production staff whose daily bread comes from runnning around on movie sets?

  • What about the “crores” of rupees “invested” in the movies of Munna?

  • Can fame, power and money buy Munna few more days of freedom?

  • The common man has sympathy and empathy for Munna, but why, he cannot explain? Is the “Munna Bhai series”, the real winner of hearts for him?

Think India, THINK!!!

Note : - For all of you, who do not know the whole history, or were born post 90’s… Here is the chronology of the events. (Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanjay_Dutt)
